Chinese Weeping Cypress-Cupressus funebris. - From Vietnam, sustainably sourced.

 

Chinese weeping Cypress is a fresh-ground aromatic powder with lovely notes of precious wood and Camphor. When burned, it emits a sensuous, soft, old-wood aroma with beautiful notes of camphor. The scent is very soothing and grounding.  It clears, calms, and quiets the mind.

 

This species grows in Vietnam and Southern China, where it is a valuable, traditional incense used to cleanse and protect spaces, commune with ancestors and spirits at graves, temples and in the home.

 

Cypress-Death and the Afterlife - 

This Cypress tree looks as though it is weeping, with its branches in a sad, elegant downward curve, as if in mourning.

It is interesting to note that Cupressus Funebris is also called Chinese weeping Cypress, mourning Cypress, and Funerary Cypress, which is indicated by its Latin name, Funebris, which means "of funerals" or funereal. 

Cypress trees are historically and universally associated with death and the afterlife. 

 

Weeping Cypress can be very comforting and promotes a feeling of protection.
